Common Eye Problems We Manage

At Origins Eye Clinic, we take pride in providing you and your family the best eye care possible. With our many years’ worth of optometry training and experience, you can rely on us to diagnose and treat various vision errors. As your trusted medical eye clinic, we also manage eye conditions, preventing them from robbing you of your sight.

Here are some of the eyesight problems we manage:

Dry Eyes

When your eyes don’t produce enough tears to keep them moisturized, they may easily dry up resulting in this condition. You may also develop dry eye syndrome when you have an inconsistent quality of tears. If your eyes feel itchy, dehydrated and irritated, visit your optometrist for an eye exam. Upon confirming this problem, we may prescribe artificial tear drops or other medications for your visual comfort.

Cataracts

Cataracts are often a product of aging. They happen when proteins start to break down and accumulate on your lenses’ surface. They prevent light from passing through, resulting in cloudy vision. If they are significantly impairing what you see, we may suggest having them surgically removed. Our eye care services include preparing you for the procedure and helping you recover afterward.

Pink Eye

Pink eye, also known as conjunctivitis, happens when the tissue lining the inside of your eyelids are inflamed. If it’s caused by a bacteria, we may prescribe antibiotics to manage the condition. Allergic pink eye, on the other hand, may be relieved by taking antihistamine medications.

Refractive Errors

Refractive errors occur when structural infirmities in the eye compromise how it refracts, or bends, light into your retina. Some of its most common forms are myopia (nearsightedness) and hyperopia (farsightedness). We offer different lenses, frames, and contact lenses to improve these conditions. We also have LASIK pre- and post-operative management as part of our vision care optometry services.

Amblyopia

Also referred to as “lazy eye,” this is a vision developmental disorder that’s common among children. It occurs when an eye fails to achieve or maintain normal visual acuity even when you’re already wearing eyeglasses or contact lenses. Management may include eye patches, glasses and vision therapy.

These are only some of the most common vision concerns we manage. To learn what other eye problems we diagnose and treat, call us at (612) 869-1333. You may also complete our form to request an appointment. We serve Bloomington and nearby MN areas.
